As of April 27, 2019 and after 5 years, our serving partner Alchemist CDC is assuming complete responsibility for the CalFresh booth we jointly established in 2014. We encourage you to continue to support this community-building program with your volunteer efforts and financial support.
Please contact Emma Burke, Farmers’ Markets Program Coordinator firstname.lastname@example.org.
Fresh, healthful produce made accessible to food-assistance recipients by way of the CalFresh booth at Country Club Plaza Certified Farmers Market, 2405 Butano Drive, Sacramento.
Opened in 2014 the booth has allowed hundreds of local low-income residents to w exchange “food stamp” (EBT) credits for scrip they can use to purchase fresh, healthful produce plus fruit and vegetable seeds and seedlings. Local farmers love the program because it brings them more customers.
Volunteering at the booth has proven to be a really enjoyable experience. Sit in the shade, help nice people, and enjoy the sites, sounds and scents of the market. It takes just a bit of training to learn how to run the machine and handle the paperwork.
Country Club Plaza Farmers’ Market is in the Butano Dr. parking lot of the Country Club Plaza shopping center near Watt Ave and El Camino Ave every Saturday 8 am to Noon, year round.
