Fresh, healthful produce made accessible to food-assistance recipients by way of the Grace Presbyterian Church CalFresh booth.
New CalFresh Booth volunteer opportunity!
Are you interested in the CalFresh Booth but can’t work the full shift (8 a.m.–12 p.m.)? We’ve created a new job called Market Aide that takes only 2 hours,10:15 a.m. –12:15 p.m. Shop for fresh, locally grown produce and then join us in the booth. Contact Don Anderson to sign up for one Saturday or more. No advance training needed.
In partnership with Alchemist Community Development Corporation we are operating the booth at which CalFresh recipients can exchange EBT credits for scrip they can use to purchase fresh, healthful produce plus fruit and vegetable seeds and seedlings. We would like to thank the Presbytery of Sacramento, Carmichael Presbyterian Church and individuals who attended our lecture series for their additional support that has allowed us to make this booth possible.
Meet our volunteers, learn about the project, convert CalFresh dollars into market scrip, sign up to work the booth!
Volunteering at the booth has proven to be a really enjoyable experience. Sit in the shade, help nice people, and enjoy the sites, sounds and scents of the market. It takes just a bit of training to learn how to run the machine and handle the paperwork. One person can run the booth, two is best just in case there’s a rush, but often 3 or 4 people volunteer for the same morning just because it’s such a nice experience.
Country Club Plaza Farmers’ Market is in the Butano Dr. parking lot of the Country Club Plaza shopping center near Watt Ave and El Camino Ave every Saturday 8 am to Noon, year round.
